Valerie trained as a teacher at Goldsmiths College, London University 1976-79 attaining a Bachelor of Education degree (B.Ed). Valerie then worked as a junior school teacher at Felsted school in Essex for five years.
During motherhood in the 1980's and 90's, Valerie became interested in complementary therapies and took the National Federation of Spiritual Healers (NFSH) three year training course with Angie Bingham. She qualifies in Anatomy, Physiology & Massage (ITEC) followed by Aromatherapy (ITEC) in 1997.
Valerie's Shiatsu training was at the East Anglian School of Shiatsu (Dip.EASS) with Neil Gulliver 1997-2003, also studying some macrobiotic cookert with Anna Mackenzie.
During the last year Valerie trained in Barefoot Shiatsu with Maria Serrano, Hopi Ear Candling with Chris Cozens and completed Bach Flower Remedy Practitioner Level training with Tessa Jordan.
Valerie has been a voluntary worker in Aromatherapy for cancer patients at Ipswich Hospital.
